Here’s a little bit about your host
Hey everyone! My name is Kenny. I’m your resident blogger for Pirply.
Let me start with this. I’m no blogging expert by any means. In fact, I’m starting this blogging journey with you from the bottom. But I’ve been an internet marketer for over 15 years. I’ve built websites for clients and been around the blogging space for as long as I can remember. So I know a thing or two about blogging. I just never took the time to create one for myself. So here we are today.
My goal is to turn this blog into a money making machine that could change my life and yours for the better. Yes, I’ve made money online for almost 2 decades whether I’m offering web design, web hosting, marketing services, etc. The reality is that it was never something I could rely on consistently. This is my attempt to turning things around for a better and brighter future.
I want to help you become a successful blogger by sharing everything I’ve learned throughout the years with you. I wholeheartedly believe in the more people I help the more I get back in return. This is my life mantra! So please let me help you help me.
I will share just about everything with you even down to how much this blog makes on a monthly basis. But for now since we’re all starting from zero, don’t expect an income report for a couple months. We’ll revisit this topic in about 3 to 6 months.
Blogging is not a get rich or quick scheme. Well, it kind of is. I’ve seen, heard, and analyzed blogs throughout the years. I’ve come across bloggers that made it and failed. If you put your head down and put in the work, you can transform your life in a year or less. It’s all up to you. Of course, you can apply the same work ethic to any business you do.
Also, I’m not a professional writer. I’m sure you’ll come across misspelled words and grammatical errors within this post. Be a friend and tell me below so I can correct it LOL.
This is the only blogging guide you’ll ever need
What I noticed is that most of these bloggers don’t drink their own Kool-aid.
What do I mean by this?
I’ve read countless blogging guides throughout the years as an internet marketer.
My main issue is that some bloggers don’t even use most of the products and services they recommend on their blog(s). As bloggers, one of the most effective way for us to make money with a blog is through affiliate marketing (more on this later).
This is when bloggers recommend products through a special link that tracks the entire process. If one of your blog readers makes a purchase through one of your links, the company who owns the product(s) you’re promoting will pay you a small commission. There is a plethora of companies out there that will pay you a commission for helping them promote their products and services.
I’m basically saying that most bloggers are recommending these products and services just for the commissions even though they’re not using them.
Sure, they might’ve used the products and services they’re recommending at some point in time. But most of them aren’t using them today to run their day-to-day business operations.
Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that since it’s part of the affiliate marketing game. I just want to make sure I have your best interest in mind.
But aren’t you going to do the same thing?
Yes! You’re right. But it’s not all about the money for me. Again, my goal here is to genuinely help you become a successful blogger and be a good example to all the future bloggers to come. The more bloggers I help, the faster this blog can grow. This blog’s success is heavily dependent on how many people I can help throughout my blogging journey.
Rest assured, the products, services, software, etc. that I’ll be recommending throughout this article and beyond are the best of the best. I will never recommend anything that can potentially hinder your blogging business in any way.
Most, if not all the products and services I use on a daily basis for the business operations I’ve been using for several years. At least 5+ years!
So what does that mean exactly?
It means everything I use and will be recommending to you in the future are super reliable. When I say you won’t have to worry about how your blog is set up, I really mean it.
You can count on all the products, services, and software that will be recommended throughout this blog. I know how fast things can change but my guarantee to you is that this article will always be updated with the latest and greatest blogging information.
I want to save you from a potential headache down the line. The goal is to make sure your blogging journey is as smooth as possible.
This guide is going to be a little different from what you’ve read before. It’ll be a mix of what’s already out there and then some.
I’ll try my best to debunk some of the misconceptions out there. This is another reason why I’m writing this guide for the blogging world. There is too much misinformation out there. I’ll try my best to explain everything based on my experience as an internet marketer.
If you get stuck or have any questions along the way, simply leave me a comment below or tweet me directly @kennymighty23. I will do my best to help you out.
Here’s my promise to you. I guarantee to you that after reading this guide you will save so much money. You will save a ton of time and effort. On top of that, you won’t have to figure this stuff out by yourself.
My goal is to help you set up your blog for success from the very beginning. I sound like a broke record at this point. I will be here for you every step of the way to the very best of my abilities and experience with blogging.
Think of this guide as a shortcut to your blogging success.
This how-to guide is a culmination of all my trials and error in internet marketing. If you only knew the amount of time, effort, and money spent in the last 15 years learning this information you would easily be discouraged. But no worries though! All of the heavy lifting is already done for you. I will try my very best to lead you in the right direction.
That’s everything from choosing your niche, choosing the best blogging platform, how to set up your blog, choosing the best web hosting provider, how to promote your blog and many more.
Again, my mission is to help you save time, money, and effort.
More importantly, your time should be spent on creating the content, building an audience, and generating traffic to your blog.
Sorry for the long intro! I had to do it. Let’s get ready to start your blog.
1. How to find your niche or blog topic
What is a niche?
Simply put, a niche is the topic of your blog. Basically, this is what you’re going to be writing or blogging about most of the time.
Let me give you some examples.
Here at Pirply, I’m going to be writing about these topics:
- How to start a blog
- The best sources to generate traffic to your blog
- How to monetize your blog
- Affiliate marketing
- Email marketing
- How to use WordPress
- How to make money online
- Side hustle ideas
- and many more
All the topics I listed above fall under a niche called internet marketing.
Think of internet marketing as this blog’s main niche. The topics listed above are what you call sub-topics or sub-niches of internet marketing.
Think of levels.
Internet marketing is at the very top then my sub-topics are below it. Well, technically “marketing” would be at the very top of the hierarchy.
The idea here is to figure out your main topic first. These are usually vague, general, and super popular.
Once you’ve determined your main topic then you need to break it down to figure out the sub-topics below it.
Here are some examples of what is considered a “main topic” or main niche of any blog:
- Internet Marketing
- Fitness
- Movies
- TV Shows
- Fashion
- Cars
- Anime
- Video Games
- Food
- Tech
- Entrepreneurship
- Health
I’ve barely scratched the surface here. I’m sure you fall into one of these categories.
Let me break down one of these main topics for you as an example.
Let’s say you’re an anime fan. Anime is a gigantic niche meaning it’s extremely popular globally. I would imagine there are thousands of Anime series out there. As much as you love Anime, you can’t possibly know every series out there. You might like some series more than others. You might hate or dislike some series. But what I can guarantee is that there are one, two, or three series you really love.
Personally, I’m a big fan of the entire Dragon Ball series, Naruto (not Boruto), and Bleach.
These 3 series fall under the Anime genre called Shonen.
Now let me show you the hierarchy.
At the very top is Anime.
It’s followed by the different genres of Anime. I’m using Shonen for this particular example.
Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Bleach fall under the Shonen genre.
Anime → Shonen → Dragon Ball, Naruto, and Bleach.
Does this make sense?
If it doesn’t leave a comment below. I got you!
Again, you need to break it down to its “lower levels”. Far enough to where you have intimate knowledge about the topic/niche.
For example, I can dedicate an entire blog just based on Dragon Ball, Naruto, or Bleach. These Anime series are so popular with massive fanbases, that you should never run out of content ideas to write about.
You can even start a blog strictly talking about all the Anime series that fall under the Shonen genre.
Even this very topic “how to start a blog” is so big and diverse that I’ll never run out of content ideas. I’ll show and prove to you as this blog takes shape in the upcoming weeks, months, and years. This sup-topic of internet marketing is only getting bigger each year.
You can check out our content roadmap for upcoming articles. Stay tuned!
By the way, you don’t have to be an expert at any of these topics to start a blog. Of course, it would help. I’m definitely not an expert on any of these topic ideas.
As long as you’re passionate about your niche, it will make a world of difference. It’ll give you an edge that will make your blogging journey a little easier.
My edge is that I’ve been around this stuff longer. That’s all!
Remember, I’m starting my blogging journey right at the bottom. I should’ve started one a long time ago but here I am. There’s no looking back!
Stay with me!
So what’s your niche?
Is this stirring up your noggin a little bit?
Your niche can be just about anything you can think of.
Whether it’s:
- Digital Marketing
- CrossFit Training
- Keto Recipes
- Movie Reviews
- Outdoor Camping
- Hiking
- Rock Climbing
- Paleo Diet
There an an endless amount of ideas out there in the world for you to write about. Again, just make sure you’re passionate about it.
Most seasoned bloggers will tell you to start with something you’re passionate about because it’ll help you stay consistent and keep on pushing through failure after failure until you reach a milestone.
I definitely agree with that approach.
Honestly, if I didn’t like what I do, I would’ve quit a long time ago.
But consider this, even if you’re super passionate about your niche you won’t be able to keep it up forever. The reality is that you need some kind of validation for your work. I’ll expand more on this throughout the post.
The 1st step is to identify what you’re passionate about. You should already have something in mind by now. Your niche can be just about anything. It can be one of your hobbies, something you’re good at, etc.
When you’re brainstorming ideas please be specific but not too specific. You don’t need to be an expert. As long you have intimate knowledge of whatever it is you want to blog about you’ll do great.
What do I mean by being specific but not too specific?
Let’s say you’re in the fitness industry.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been in the industry for 10 – 20+ years, you couldn’t possibly know everything about fitness. That’s impossible! There’s way too much information.
There has to be something in fitness that you gravitated towards or take interest in.
For example, you get into CrossFit training and you really love it. You explore and learn everything there is to know about CrossFit.
So fitness would be at the top of the hierarchy.
CrossFit training is below it.
That’s an example of being specific but not overly specific.
An example of being too specific would be a type of CrossFit workout. With a quick Google search, I found a couple of workout types called Fran, Cindy, Murph, Grace, and Helen.
Your blog niche shouldn’t be about the specific types of CrossFit workouts unless the sub-topic is extremely popular. But even if it was popular, you still shouldn’t dedicate your blog to a specific niche. You can always write an article about it later to make sure you cover everything.
Is this making any sense to you?
Remember, the goal here is to specialize in something no matter the industry.
Check out the diagram below for more examples.

What if you’re a movie or tv show fanatic?
Here’s a list of potential topics you can blog about.
- Action
- Adventure
- Documentary
- Comedy
- Suspense
- Horror
- Sci-Fi
- Fantasy
- Mystery
- and more
You can literally blog about anything your heart desires. There’s really no right or wrong answer here. This step is to help give your blog some structure. This will actually help you rank your blog in the Google search faster (more on this later).
I think the wrong approach is to blog about random topics that are unrelated. I’m sure you’ve seen examples of this. Do you know or have heard the term lifestyle blogger or lifestyle blog? If you’ve been on the internet long enough, I can almost guarantee you’ve come across these types of bloggers before
There is no sense of direction. No structure.
Does this approach work?
Yes, it does but it’ll take longer to catch any traction.
These types of bloggers don’t really specialize in anything since they’ll write about random topics. They’ll publish a cooking article one day and then write about fitness on the next one. Again, the goal here is to specialize in something. You need to be known for something. It’s a lot easier to rank on Google search if your topics are all related (more on this later).
If this doesn’t make sense to you please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below. I’ll help you figure out your blog’s niche.
2. How to pick your blog name
Choosing your blog name is one of the most important steps toward your blogging success.
It’s your identity whether you’re online or doing business in person. This is how you’ll be remembered whether you do good or bad in the world.
This is your brand.
This part will involve three steps. First, you need to figure out your blog name. The second part is to buy the name (domain name) if it’s available. Third step is to sign up for new social media accounts using your blog name.
By the way, domain name is synonymous with your brand name. Domain name is your blog address on the web.
With your new domain name, people from all over the world will have access to your blog as long as they have internet.
You’re reading this article by having access to our domain name on the internet, pirply.xyz. Let’s say you wanted to watch videos on YouTube. Where do you go? You go to your internet browser and type in YouTube.com at the URL bar right.
All the websites you look at every single day are accessible through their domain name.
It’s time to buy your first domain name! Do you already have something in mind?
I’m going to recommend you to one of my go to spots where I buy my domain names. Open another tab on your browser and go to this website called Namesilo.
I’m an affiliate of Namesilo. If you buy a domain name using any of my links in this article or on my blog, I will receive a small commission.
Namesilo is a platform where you can register and rent your domain name if it’s available. For some clarity, you don’t own a domain name even though you paid for it. You’re merely renting from these companies. I have some domain names I’ve been paying for over 15 years. I personally manage over 100+ domain names. I have about 25 domains being managed through Namesilo.
It’s gotten a little out of hand honestly lol. I probably spend about 2k per year on renewal fees just to maintain these domain names. Every time I come up with an idea for a business, my first instinct is to come up with a brand name for it. Once I come up with something I really like, I go to one of these domain registrars and try to buy the domain. It’s a bit of an addiction. I keep renewing these domains yearly in hopes I do something with it. Maybe a new website for a business. Something!
Yes, I really maintain over 100+ domain names lol.
SMH!!!
By the way, you just need one domain name. Don’t be like me lol.
How much does an average domain name cost?
I’ll keep it simple. Your goal today is to buy a domain name with a .com extension. They’re called extension or TLD. There are so many domain extensions to pick from.
.com
.co
.net
.org
.xyz (just like this blog pirply.xyz)
.me
.info
.us
.shop
.blog
any many more
If you buy your domain name through my Namesilo link today, it will cost you about $18 per year for a .com extension. Not all extensions or TLDs are same. Some are cheaper than $18. Some are more expensive. For a .com extension, it’ll cost you anywhere from $15 to $30+ per year. It depends on where you buy it. Some companies offer promos. Obviously, pricing will fluctuate up due to inflation. Unfortunately, nothing ever comes down. But no worries though! I’ll make sure to keep you up-to-date on this article to reflect the current pricing model.
If you want to support my blogging journey and/or thank me for creating this guide feel free to click on any of my affiliate links. I appreciate you!
Here’s my Namesilo affiliate link again.
Register your new domain name here.
Thanks for supporting the movement!
Now, here’s my process of how I come up with great (or at least I think so) website names for any business ideas in the future. I’ll try my best to keep it super simple.
When I think of launching a new brand, website, or business, I think of the most popular companies in the world.
Let me give you some examples.
- WordPress
- Squarespace
- Shopify
- Starbucks
- Canva
- AppSumo
- TechCrunch
- Digital Ocean
- ConvertKit
- Linktree
- and many more
So why did I list all these brands?
Every time I think of ideas for a new website or business, I have a list of brands I keep in mind to draw inspiration from and get my creative juices flowing.
The 1st thing I do, before I start designing a website, is to come up with a brand name.
A good brand or website name should be:
- Short and sweet
- Easy to remember
- Stick with your topic as much as possible
- Memorable in some ways
- Avoid names that are protected by copyrights and trademarks
You can use Namesilo AI domain name generator to help you come up with some ideas. Type in your ideas and let their AI-powered tool do the rest.
I personally like to take the “two words” approach. What does that mean?
It’s basically combining two short words together as one.
Here are some examples of popular brands utilizing the two-word method. You may or may not have heard of them.
- WordPress
- Starbucks
- YouTube
- RollingStone
- Vanityfair
- Squarespace
- Coinbase
- Bitcoin
- Billboard
- FastCompany
- Doordash
- Postmates
- Linktree
The list goes on. Think of two words and combine them together. Try to keep it as short as possible. Try to stay on topic. I’ve come up with many amazing names this way.
Here’s a quick example.
Let’s say you wanted to start a blog about crypto. Let’s use “crypto” as the 1st word. For the 2nd word let’s use “coin”. I noticed that a lot of crypto brands use the word coin in the name. If you put them together you have a blog name called “crypto coin (cryptocoin)”. It’s short and straight to the point. Here are some more examples: “crypto market”, “crypto digital”, “crypto base”, “crypto fire”, “crypto club”, etc.
One word relates to your topic and the second word could be anything. If you notice, the second words I used are all recognizable.
Just a heads up for you. Almost every domain name with the word crypto in it is not available. Crypto took the world by storm and it hasn’t slowed down since. None of the examples mentioned above are available just in case you’re wondering. This applies to any domain name that is extremely popular. Most of the domain names will be taken already especially if they have .com extension.
You’re going to need to be creative with this.
Next.
My 2nd favorite way to name a blog is to simply make up a new “word” LOL.
It makes it easier for me to register a new domain name. Since it’s a new “word”, the likelihood of the domain name being available for purchase will be very high.
You’re going to realize soon enough that a lot of good-sounding, feel-good domain names are not available.
A good example of something made-up is this website. It’s called Pirply. It’s not a real word, I checked.
I’m not really sure how I came up with it. I guess I had an “aha” moment. I was into the color purple a while ago. A lot of popular tech company names end with the letters “ly“. Can you kind of see how I came up with it? It took me about a week or two to come up with Pirply.
So yes, take your time with this. Think about it for a couple of days even a week if you have to.
Again, I get a lot of inspiration from popular global brands. I like to take what’s already out there and try my best to spin it in my own unique way.
If you think hard enough, you’ll notice a lot of the most popular companies in the world have a made-up name that’s not in the dictionary. Also, what they sell has nothing to do with their name for the most part.
- Ebay
- Shopify
- Yahoo
- Rolex
- Bugatti
- Spotify
- Uber
- Forbes
Pirply has nothing to do with starting a blog, making money online, internet marketing, or entrepreneurship.
In fact, the only brand listed above that somewhat resembles what they’re selling in the marketplace is “Shopify”. Shopify gives sellers the ability to sell their products and services online. They provide e-commerce tools for everyone. That’s why the word “shop” is in the name.
Does that make sense?
What if you didn’t know that Rolex sells high-end, luxury watches? Would you have known that Rolex was in the luxury watch niche? Yet, when someone mentions Rolex, most of the civilized world already knows that they sell luxury watches.
In time, the same effect will happen to Pirply as it gains more popularity in the world. When some mention Pirply, people will eventually associate it with blogging, making money online, entrepreneurship, website builder platforms, etc.
These are what you call “brandable names”. Almost anything can be a brandable name as long as it sounds good, sounds cool, sounds catchy, short, and rolls off the tongue nicely when you say it. This part is very subjective. But that’s what I’ve come to realize when I hear and look at these popular brands with made-up names.
Next.
My 3rd favorite way is to come up with an alternate spelling if the real word is not available.
I’m sure you’ve heard some of these companies.
- Lyft
- Fiverr
- Foundr
Lyft is supposed to be spelled like “lift”. Fiverr should only have one r. Foundr is supposed to be spelled like “founder”. But even if the letter e is missing from “Foundr” you immediately know how to say it. It’s implied!
You get the point.
Here’s another example I came up with. It’s a new online business idea I’m working on, and one of the many domain names I maintain.
Meet Lynkflow.
Lynkflow is combining two methods. Two-word method and alternate spelling. I wanted to register “linkflow” but it wasn’t available for purchase. I came up with “Lynkflow” instead.
If you come up with something cool and catchy but the domain name is not available with the regular spelling of the word, don’t hesitate to use an alternate spelling as long as it makes sense.
Now if you absolutely love the name you came up but it’s not available in the .com extension, you can try other available extensions. The main reason people go for a .com extension is due to its popularity. The .com extension is the most recognizable extension of all time. But other extensions will do just fine.
Let’s recap the different methods for coming up with cool “brandable names” for your blog.
- Combine two short words together to make something new
- Alternate spelling of the real word as long as it makes sense
- Make up a new word
Keep this in mind. Please avoid naming your blog with words that are protected by copyrights and trademarks. These big companies don’t play around. They will come after you and collect if you ever hit their radar.
I hope that I’ve given you some good ideas on how to name your blog. I look forward to all the blog names you guys come up with in the future. Comment them below!
Don’t forget to use our Namesilo link to register your domain. Thanks for your support!
Lastly.
Now if you want to be lazy about this whole process then you can always use your name LOL. A lot of bloggers take this approach to save time. It’s as simple as your first and last name. You can also create a brand based on a pen name or pseudonym.
I know you’ll have questions for me. Leave a comment below. I’ll reply back!
3. The best web hosting provider for your blog
Hopefully you’ve settled on a domain name you really like. If not don’t hesitate to shoot me a message or leave a comment below. I’ll personally help you out.
This part is supposed to be technical but your life is about to get so much easier.
I guarantee it!
So what is web hosting?
I’ll keep this super simple.
Think of web hosting as a way to store information on the internet which allows for the information to be accessed through the internet. All the digital information are stored inside computer hard drives. How do we access the information? We access the information by typing in the domain name on the web browser. You type the domain name then a second or two later a website pops up in real time on your laptop, tablet or smartphone.
I asked ChatGPT what is web hosting. Here are the results below.

I also asked Gemini what is web hosting. Check it out!

You can go to Wikipedia to learn more about it in detail.
Hopefully, you have somewhat of an understanding of what web hosting is all about. It’s time to bring your blog to life!
Be warned.
This part is going to be a shameless plug about my very own product and services. I will not be promoting other web hosting services other than mine.
If you have some experience with blogging you might’ve read about a certain web hosting company that many bloggers tend to promote. Well, I won’t be one of them. I’m not going to mention the company name on this blog post. They already get enough attention as it is.
My goal is to make your blogging journey as smooth as possible. I want to remove all distractions and make it super convenient for you to get started. Remember, let me help you help me. I’m here to peel back the layers of complexity so that you can focus on creating your blog articles.
This portion of the guide is usually the technical part but you won’t have to worry about it today. Let me and my team handle the technical portion of hosting your blog.
Let me explain.
Pirply is not only a blog but also an all-in-one website platform for bloggers, creators, small business owners, and medium-sized business owners. Pirply can even handle enterprise websites and blogs with high traffic requirements.
Pirply is split into two parts for now. I’ll be adding another dynamic to it once the platform starts getting traction.
Pirply.xyz is the blog. This is probably the most important thing that will make or break this entire operation. This is the lifeline!
Pirply.com is the website platform hosting this blog. Pirply, the website platform provides hassle-free, stress-free, premium web hosting solution for creators, business owners, and just about everyone else in between.
This is how Pirply looks for now. I’m constantly making changes to make sure everything is up-to-date. Feel free to visit me over there. Dissect it. Ask me questions. Tell me how I can improve the design. Tell me what I’m missing. I know I have lots of work to do. I’m definitely up for the challenge!

WordPress is the best blogging tool ever
Pirply runs on blood, sweat, tears, and WordPress.
WordPress is the only blogging platform you’ll ever need. Forget the rest of them!
After reading countless “how to start a blog” guides throughout my years, the consensus is that WordPress is the go-to tool for blogging. It’s the best blogging platform for new bloggers and seasoned bloggers alike.
Out of the hundreds and thousands of blogging tools out there, WordPress reigns supreme.
If you don’t intend to use WordPress from the beginning then this guide is not for you. I mean you can still learn from my guide but you won’t get the full experience if you’re not using WordPress. WordPress is not vital to your blogging success but you’re going to need it for this guide moving forward.
I don’t want to bore you with explaining what WordPress is. I’m not being lazy. This guide is already super long as it is LOL.
This is what Gemini have to say about this…

Hopefully, you read it all the way to the part where WordPress has two versions. I would say Pirply is a combination of both versions. You get the flexibility, convenience, the freedom, the ownership of your content, and more without the hassle.
Again, my mission with Pirply is to make your life as a blogger as easy possible. I really sound like a broken record at this point. You’ll probably read me repeat myself again LOL.

- Fully-Managed – This means you won’t have to worry about maintaining your blog/website. My small team and I got you covered.
- Connect Your Domain – This means your readers can access your blog using your branded domain name instead of ours (more on this later).
- Pirply Toolkit – Your blog/website will come preinstalled with a suite of tools to help you design and promote your blog.
- Pirply Security – Your blog is protected with the best technology within the Pirply network.
- Pirply Backup – Pirply does a daily backup of your blog like clockwork. Your content is safe!
- Priority Support – You can reach me or my team through email or chat (coming soon).
Cons:
- 5GB Storage – This is not really a negative. This is plenty of space for newbie bloggers. Let’s say you upload a 1MB image to your media library. You would need to upload 5,000 images to use up your storage space.
- Closed Platform – This plan doesn’t allow you to install anything for security purposes. But realistically, you won’t need to at all. You have everything you need to run a successful blog within Pirply.
- Possibly expensive for new bloggers. But if you buy the tools you need separately I can guarantee that it’ll cost you at least 3x more than what this platform charges monthly. Trust me I know! I’ve been down this road for the last 15 years.
- Not being biased here but I really can’t think of anything else.
To get started just go to the pricing page and sign up for the launcher plus plan. Once you sign up, my team and I will get notified. We’ll set up your blog immediately and send you an email notification once it’s ready. We currently don’t have this process automated. It’s actually already in the works. For now, it’ll be done this way since we don’t manage a whole lot of websites.
What makes Pirply qualified to host your blog?
For starters, I’ve been providing web hosting service for over a decade now. I started offering web design services about 15 years ago. To make a long story short, I wanted to streamline my process and simplify how I offered my services. I wanted to make the process easier for my clients by being the main point of contact for everything. So I took it upon myself to learn this part of the web. I’m still learning something new everyday. My goal for the Pirply platform is to be a viable competitor against the big names in the web hosting industry.
At one point, I’ve hosted and managed over 300 small business websites by myself. I just didn’t have the business acumen to keep it going. But now 15 years later, I now have the skills, experience, tech stack, and a network of highly-skilled individuals that I collaborate with to do more than ever.
Today, I don’t host 300+ websites. I host over 50 websites. My goal by the end of 2025 is to host over 300 blogs. By the end of 2026, I want Pirply to be hosting 3,000 blogs or more. I’m shooting for the moon! The subscription revenue that comes in is enough to cover the expenses associated with maintaining my entire system and the rest for marketing.
With that being said, Pirply is 1000% funded by customers, money out of my pocket, a never give up mentality, blood, sweat, and tears. I don’t have some kind of fancy investor firm backing me up financially. No business loans. Nothing!
If you want to support Pirply and my journey, you can sign up for the launcher plus hosting plan. Let’s do this journey together and work as a team!
4. How to design your blog
By now, you should have your domain name and Pirply blog ready to go. Next step is to design your blog. This step is important but not super important in the beginning. This is something you’re going to be working on for as long you have your blog. You just need the basics to get started.
Since you’re hosting your blog with Pirply, it comes preinstalled with a website design tool called Divi (by Elegant Themes). In WordPress, there’s a feature or functionality called “themes”. Basically, WordPress themes allows you to customize your website without knowing how to code.
Divi is one of the most popular WordPress theme on the planet today. Divi is a visual drag-and-drop website builder. You’ll learn more about this later. Divi allows you to design, control, customize, and manipulate every page on your blog. Of course, there’s a learning curve but there are endless video tutorials on YouTube to help you get started. But no worries! I’ll also help you out with this.
I’m an affiliate of Divi by Elegant Themes. If you buy using any of my links in this article or on my blog, I will receive a small commission.
Here’s a short video showing you how to use Divi. This is a very quick rundown showcasing Divi’s capabilities. Like I said, Divi allows you to control every aspect of your blog. It’s up to your imagination. By the way, this blog and the main Pirply website is using Divi. As a matter of fact, I use Divi for about 95% of my own websites and clients website projects.
I hope you’ve watched the video! Leave me a comment below if you have any questions. I’ll also make a video tutorial in the very near future showing you how I navigate Divi to design my websites. You should have some of the basics down.
Remember, the Divi theme comes preinstalled already with any of our hosting plans. If you haven’t already, sign up for the launcher plus plan to have access to Divi. You also have access Divi’s AI feature.
If you buy the Divi theme separately it’ll cost you $89 annually or a one-time payment of $249 for lifetime access. I’ve been using the Divi theme for about 10 years now. Divi has been one of the best investments I’ve ever made in my internet marketing journey.
You won’t have to pay extra to use it. I’m all about saving you money!
I’ll take it a step above for you. Your blog will be somewhat predesigned for you already. I want you guys to hit the ground running. The sooner you can publish your 1st blog post the better.
My goal by the end of 2026 is to have at least 100 blog articles published on Pirply. I’ll be publishing progress reports with each milestone I reach in conjunction to the income reports on Pirply. My 1st progress report post will be once I’ve published 25 articles. I can’t wait to get to 100 blog posts. I know for a fact that it will be life changing. See you then!
5. How to setup your blog for success
Before you publish your first post, you need to set up your blog the right way.
You’re going to need to set up a couple things right off the bat in order to be successful with blogging. Of course, you can set them up later but why wait for the inevitable. It’s better to attack it head on!
You and I will be looking into the WordPress settings and signing up for a couple free accounts to help run your blog the best way possible.
Once you log in to your blog this is what you will see on the back-end. Welcome to your WordPress dashboard! This is where you can make changes to your WordPress settings, publish a post and page, manage your media library, manage your comments, and many more.
This is a new blog I’m hosting and managing for a customer. This is not a demo. I had to blur out their blog name. This is probably familiar for most of you.

I’ll record a quick video in the very near future showing you guys how to setup your WordPress settings properly. For now, some pictures will do LOL.
6. How to promote your blog
Are you having a difficult time promoting or marketing your blog?
Building an audience and learning how to generate traffic are definitely the biggest obstacles preventing entrepreneurs from becoming successful.
This is the most important step of all. Hands down!
Every business on the planet whether you’re running a brick-and-mortar, e-commerce, or starting a blog needs traffic. Brick-and-mortar businesses need constant foot traffic coming in at their establishment. E-commerce and blogs need consistent website visitors to generate sales and ad revenue.
You can create the best products, best services, best whatever but if you don’t know how to build and generate traffic for your products and services you will fail.
You will ultimately quit in the end.
Before we continue, let me clarify a couple of things for you.
When I say a business needs traffic, I’m referring to potential customers constantly looking at your products and services. You need consistent eyeballs looking at your stuff or else you’ll never sell anything.
Think of traffic like oxygen.
What happens if oxygen suddenly disappears? Humanity will cease to exist. Without traffic, your business whether it’s online or brick-and-mortar will not survive.
This step is so important, I’ll be creating dedicated blog posts teaching multiple strategies on how to generate traffic to your blog. Please refer to our content roadmap for more info.
What are the best methods to generate traffic to a blog?
There are so many ways to approach this.
I’m not going to beat around the bush with this. I’ll start with the best method.
The best way to generate traffic to a blog is to utilize a technique or practice called SEO which is short for search engine optimization. This is by far the best method to generate traffic to any website.

Have you heard of this marketing technique before?
I’m no SEO expert by any means, but here’s what little I know about search engine optimization.
Keep this in mind every time you hear SEO or search engine optimization.
Every time someone mentions SEO immediately associate that term with Google Search.
If you don’t live under a rock, you should already be aware that Google is the most popular search engine on the planet. There are other search engine providers out there but they don’t really matter. With over 90% of all search queries worldwide, Google dominates the global search engine market share. Hands down!
When you think of an idea or have a light bulb moment, what do you do?
You go to Google to research the idea right? You type in a couple of keywords pertaining to your idea right? Google then generates search results from their database based on the keywords you typed in the search bar.
Here’s an example.
You went to Google and typed “how to start a blog” since you were curious or wanted to learn everything about blogging. Here you are in our article learning how to start a successful blog.
If you’re looking to purchase a product or service, where do you go?
You go to Google to research the product or services and make a decision to buy right?
Once you’ve found the most appealing search result, you then click on the link to learn about the products or services.
Did I hit the mark?
It’s safe to say most people with internet access go to Google to search literally anything their heart desire.
As of 2023, Google handles 93.37% of all search queries across the internet all over the world from users with internet access. That’s insane! All other search engine providers are irrelevant. Don’t waste your time with other search engines.
As the world becomes more digital, more people go online to learn. People’s hunger for knowledge is increasing day by the day, especially in the entrepreneurial space.
Google is at the forefront of that wave.
I hope I’ve explained the importance of SEO and Google.
Again, every time you hear SEO think of the Google search engine.
Blogging and SEO go hand in hand. You can’t really have one without the other. Both marketing techniques are a match made in heaven. You can’t do SEO without content. Blogging is the practice of creating written content. You can’t apply search engine optimization techniques without any content on your website.
Does that make sense?
If you want to start a blog, you must learn SEO best practices.
What is SEO?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the practice of improving the positioning of your website pages on Google search.
Let me show you how it works.
Let’s say you go to Google and type in “how to start a blog” keywords in the search bar. Google will then generate search results based on the keywords you type in. Google will show you all the available data they have in order of relevancy.
Check out the diagram below to get an idea of what I’m talking about. This should be somewhat familiar to you if you’re an avid “Googler” like me.

Depending on the keywords you search for you’ll notice a couple of things that Google shows on its results pages.
Based on the image above, the first block or element consists of sponsored ads. The next element is called a snippet. Then you have a section that showcases people’s questions about the keywords you’re doing research on. You should see it titled “People also ask”, “Others want to know” or something similar. The last block shows the organic results.
SEO happens in the organic search results section of Google’s results page.
